IBOA welcomes end of AIB wrangling
Issued : 18 November 2009
IBOA General Secretary, Larry Broderick, has welcomed the announcement by AIB Group that it has accepted the Government's demand that it should respect the €500,000 cap on the salary of its new managing director.
“The public wrangling between the Board of the Bank and the Government over the new leadership arrangements in AIB in recent months has not been helpful to its staff, customers or indeed to AIB's reputation," he said.
"Now that agreement has been reached on the Bank's senior management structures, we hope that the vital work of restoring AIB to financial health can proceed based on sound banking principles which recognise the important role of staff and customers as stake-holders in the Bank," said Mr. Broderick.
“IBOA is to seek an early meeting with the new management team including the newly appointed Managing Director and Executive Chairman with a view to establishing a clear understanding of AIB's strategic direction for the months and years ahead," he added.
