The Union for Workers in the Financial Services Sector
IBOA the Finance Union is the leading trade union representing staff in Ireland's financial services sector – with almost 22,000 members located in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
IBOA organises workers throughout the sector – full-time, part-time and temporary staff – in a wide range of financial institutions – including banks, life assurance companies, finance and leasing organisations and call centres.
While the Union's core activity is progressing workplace issues – such as pay, working time and safety, health and welfare at work – on behalf of its members both individually and collectively, IBOA also offers a wide range of complementary services to its members including training and personal development opportunities, legal expertise, sports and social activities and a range of special discounts on goods and services.
The Union is organised from the bottom up by local IBOA Representatives in each workplace, area representatives known as Bank orDistrict Secretaries and national representatives at Executive Committee level. IBOA is a union run by employees in the financial services for employees in the financial services. These are all rank-and-file members elected to their positions by their peers working in the financial services sector. Complementing this voluntary representative structure is a team of full-time professional industrial and administrative staff employed by IBOA and led by the Union's General Secretary, Larry Broderick.
